Living as a teenager in today’s day and age is all about the people, the fun, the parties, the homework, and the looks. The looks are put into certain categories based on one’s outfits, style, facial features, and body structure. Unfortunately, my body structure wasn’t a 10 out of 10 in society’s perfect looks. I was a 4’11 thirteen year old with a spine that created a perfect “S” shape. This “S” shape was due to the fact that I had scoliosis. Scoliosis is a condition in which an individual’s spine obtains a sideways curvature. Some curves are more major than others, but can lead to different types of treatment. I may not be a certified doctor or therapist, but through this blog I will tell my story of growing up with this condition. I will mention how it all began and how it played a bigger role in my life and sometimes even others. Additionally, I will touch on topics such as the importance of physical activity, body image, and self love. Most importantly, I hope telling my story will impact, motivate, and inspire others living with a curve to own it. This is gonna be a curvy ride, so buckle your seat belts.
